Ara Babloyan thanked the President for the reception at high level. During the meeting numerous issues relating to different spheres of the Armenian-Georgian cooperation were discussed. Ara Babloyan, presenting the directions of the Armenian-Georgian parliamentary works to the President of Georgia, particularly has noted that in the Armenian Parliament Armenia-Georgia Friendship Group has been formed headed by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, which is ready for active and comprehensive work. The Head of the Parliament has stated that the National Assembly is ready to do utmost within its authorities for further deepening the Armenian-Georgian relations.

Talking about the NK problem settlement, the RA NA President Ara Babloyan particularly noted: “Armenia greatly evaluates the role of Georgia in the South Caucasus regional security issues and expects the balanced position of Georgia in the NK problem settlement process. To us, the peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict has no alternative. The Nagorno Karabakh problem, being a problem of human rights, can be solved only through Artsakh people’s free self-determination.” The Head of the RA Parliament has underlined that the armed race unleashed by Azerbaijan is a serious danger for all countries of the region.

Thanking the Republic of Armenia for supporting the Georgian people for the fires occurred in Georgia, the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili expressed regret that similar disasters had also been in Armenia.

Speaking about the Georgian-Armenian diplomatic relations, the President of Georgia has particularly stated that already for 25 years the progress is obvious in the relations of the two countries, and Georgia is always ready to discuss with Armenia any issue and further develop the relations of the two countries in all spheres. The President of Georgia expressed satisfaction with the development of the parliamentary diplomatic cooperation existing between the legislative bodies of Armenia and Georgia. Touching upon the NK problem, the President of Georgia particularly noted: “Our brotherly heart aches for the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict. One thing is for sure: similar conflicts can be destructive for the small nations. We pray for the peace of the region.”

On the same day the RA NA delegation led by the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan, met with the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilya II.
